Betty Carr Wall Art

Betty Carr was born in Santa Cruz, California where she was also raised. She developed a love of art from visiting museums. From the time she was a young girl, she has been represented by many galleries. Betty has been featured in many publications including Vitality magazines, Art of the West, Art Talk, American Artist, American Artist and Southwest Art. Betty is extremely happy to be accepted into the Knickerbocker Association of New York City. She’s emerging as one of the foremost painters and watercolorists of the southwest. Her use of shade, light and color put emphasis on her subject matter while showing her love of nature and its forms. She’s collected both corporately and privately as well as being accepted in numerous juried exhibitions. After gaining her MFA from San Jose State University, California, she started teaching sculpture, drawing and painting at primary, secondary and college levels.

She has taught art in public schools for 23 years and did sculpture in her spare time. During that time she has developed a huge following through both workshop and private instruction. In 1980, she married Howard Carr, a landscape painter, and they have devoted their lives to painting. The couple travel several months of each year, from South Carolina to Oregon in a specially equipped mobile home. On several locations, they teach artist workshops. Betty likes to advise her students to draw continually because she says drawing is critical to good painting. Her style is impressionism. She uses enthusiastic brushwork, light and dark shades to produce her images.
