Tom Barnes Wall Art

Tom Barnes was born in High Point NC, and grew up in the coastal plains and pine forests of South Georgia. Barnes loved art from his childhood and most of his free time was spent painting and drawing. He knew he would become a professional artist. Raised amongst the bourbon, mosquitoes, and gators of South Georgia, in the early fifties, Barnes was without protest packed off each summer. He traveled by train to Savannah where he spent 2 weeks with the twins, Bess and Lila … may their souls rest in peace. Barnes has spent 20 years producing uniquely styled, self taught art in classy images and vibrant colors rendered in watercolors of DaVinci professional grade, on gallery wrapped canvases. He finished with Ultraviolet-light resistant archival sprays for lasting impressions. The pieces of art are handsomely presented in Gold and Black Floater frames, making them to be perfect for any decor.

Landscapes and florals are his popular subjects, but long Neck Ladies are a signature. In 2011 he was accepted into the Nationale Societie de Beaux-Artes in Paris and his juried pieces hung in the Carrousel du Louvre. The same happened in 2012. Barnes retired from the corporate business world in 1990 and began to paint. His landscapes are stylized with hills, mountains, lush foliage and plains, and capture the techniques of the Fauvists. His still life subject matter usually captures a table, a chair, a jar, a window and simple pieces of fruit…they always capture a moment of reflection and repose, interrupted by something unknown.
