Jo Fairbrother Wall Art

Jo Fairbrother says that from an early age she had a pencil or pen in her hand and soon learnt she was able to make marks that appealed not only to her but to others too. She made a decision to follow her heart and dream by forsaking a place at a college of art to enter the world of work. Jo had a strong will that opposed temptation to contain or formulate her art and so a tension with the accepted route forward was always inevitable. She was confident and believed she could make a living by using the artistic talent that she had. At seventeen years of age, Jo launched her art on the Internet. She started producing commissioned drawings and caricatures and producing large murals in peoples homes.

She set had set out on her journey with a determination to be successful and when she came up against normal commercial barriers, Jo shifted emphasis and direction to overcome them. She moved and grabbed the commercial market as part of this shift and so she used natural finesse to photograph iconic locations and cityscapes and to represent them in acrylics. Her work has been described as quirky and has the free style abandonment of someone truly at ease with her ability to communicate what she is feeling and seeing. At first, Jo’s compositions seem to be at loggerheads with accepted protocols. The art she makes has a true mix of commercial viability and art and much virtue that lends itself to many opportunities across licensing applications.
