NBL Studio was founded by Alain Pelletier, an art director based in Montreal, Canada. Pelletier has been in the poster and licensing business for more than 25 years. He works on a wide array of subjects, including wordplay, home products, nature, and many others. Based on client requests, he also works on a lot of other subjects. He first started a stationery company, Pela Concept, which distributed all across North America. In the course of his work, he interacted with several artwork and artists, igniting his interest for art. He then started directing artwork pieces, and this provided for him a reason to go into licensing business through his company. A few years later, Pelletier had a licensing collaboration called New Box Licensing with designers at Applejack Art Partners. Later on as his clients’ based expanded he decided to create the NBL Studio.
His directing abilities have made it possible for him to work with different people who possess different talents. At NBL Studio, his team creates a variety of artistic products using diverse artistic styles. Besides his illustration and painting works, the team is also involved in videography where they cover literature, music, theater, dance, and elements of the visual arts. Their works are mainly for gift and home markets and are made for his Wild Apple Graphics Company. He doesn’t limit his works to a single media; his versatility makes him a multifaceted artist using a variety of media. Pelletier has been recognized internationally for his art. He has won International Media and Art Award, Best 100 of the Ninety’s, Germany, and Best Experimental Animation in Chicago, among others.
