Philip Plisson Wall Art

French photographer, Philip Plisson (Born 1947) was born in Orléans, France. He’s best known for his maritime photography. His son Guillaume is also a photographer and together they set up a publishing company called Pêcheur d'Images (Fisherman Images). His other two children, Frank and Anne, are also working with him. In 1991 he became one of the few photographers to be awarded the title Official Painter of the French Navy (Peintre de la Marine). He has produced several books including collections of photographs featuring the ocean liner Queen Mary 2, and also some featuring Ireland, Brittany, and Scotland. At the Paris Boat Show in 2012, Les Marées, which is his 65th book, was named the Maritime Book of the Year.

Initially, he exhibited in a gallery in La Trinité-sur-mer in Brittany before he moved his company's offices to the neighboring town of Crac'h in to a larger premise to give a new impetus to this company. Plisson is a strong supporter of the sea in general – everything that has something to do with the sea. He regularly participates in summits and conferences to defend the sea, including meetings in Brussels of the European Union. His photographs continue to inspire many, particularly the students and teachers of photography. Conservationists are also attracted to his art, more so those who are affiliated to the marine life. His art is in many galleries, museums, homes and institutions around the world. He has a wide base of clients and this base is ever expanding.
