W. Wellstood Wall Art

William Wellstood (1819 - 1900) was a copperplate engraver, Porträtstecher, Etcher and Engraver. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and died in New York, NY. Wellstood was active in both New York and Scotland. He was known mainly for being a Portraitist and a landscape engraver. Wellstood loved art from a tender age and his talent was discovered early enough by those who surrounded him. He was encouraged and supported by many in his journey to become an artist. His art was primarily influenced by the environment in which he grew up and the people he interacted with. He produced several pieces of art that can today be seen hanging on the walls of many buildings around the world. His art is easily recognizable because he developed a unique style.
