Gustav Klimt Expectation, c.1909 (detail)

Description:
Klimt's work, "Expectation" is part of a larger work, "Tree of Life." Comprising of the left side of it, this piece depicts a richly-dressed, gorgeous woman, peering to the right. Representing expectation itself, the tall girl shows an attitude characteristic of of Klimt's women during this period. It displays a distictly Oriental influence, showing-off her ornate headdress and many jewelry pieces. While there appear to be eye-like images over the larger work, in "Expectation" we can clearly see several eyes on her fine dress, staring through us, the viewer.
