Darryl Vlasak Wall Art

Darryl Vlasak was born in Chicago and raised in Woodridge. He recently became a resident of Lockport, Vlasak, and now he lives in Wisconsin with his parents. Vlasak is active in United States and is known for stadium scenes, sports figures and botanical paintings. He admits that he is in his own little world, which would be the town of Danbury by physical definition. The town is about 100 km under Duluth. His "own little world" would also mean that he is a realist, creating in acrylics in such finely detailed paintings that they are often mistaken for photos. Surprisingly, given the quality of the work, he’s pretty much a self-taught artist. He only took a few art classes. Initially his works were focused on wildlife and horses, but after winning a few awards, Vlasak began to concentrate on sports.

His subjects have been Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Mark McGwire, Satchel Paige, Michael Jordan, and dozens of recognizable sportsmen and women. Some of his paintings have fetched as much as ten thousand dollars. His work has hung in Comiskey and Wrigley, and at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. His paintings are in private collections, including that of George Steinbrenner, the New York Yankees owner. In a good year, he’s able to turn out, perhaps fifteen paintings, sometimes working as long as sixteen hours at a stretch. Vlasak says it was a much easier process when he was younger. Now after six straight hours he starts to feel the strain – he just turned 40.
