Barbara Applegate Wall Art

Barbara Applegate was born in Pennsylvania in Bucks County. Her earliest fine art memories include stopovers at the studios of the many artists painting and living along the Delaware River between New Hope and Center Bridge. Barbara was influenced by the County of Buck painters like Walter Schofield, Edward W. Redfield and Daniel Garber, and she spent her early years painting the countryside and villages along the Delaware River. After she graduated from Dickinson College, the artist relocated to the Brandywine Valley where she immersed herself in the rich tradition of realism that was made popular by the Wyeths and Howard Pyle. She works in oil, egg tempera and watercolor, and spent the next 10 years painting the beautiful Quaker homesteads of the 18th century and the quiet rolling landscape. Barbara has been an artist for more than 30 years.

She has experience as a painter and teacher, and just like so many artists, she painted for several years on part-time basis while employed in other jobs. From 1998, she worked diligently to establish relationships with many galleries across the United States, and was able to realize her dream of creating art full time and spending each day in the studio. Barbara has exhibited in Bayview Gallery, Brunswick ME, Portnoy Gallery, Carmel, Maine Art Collector, Portland, ME, Highlands Arts Gallery, NJ, ” S.R. Brennan Galleries, Scottsdale, Highlands Art Gallery, Lambertville, Manchester Gallery, VT, Gallery-on-the-Green, Woodstock, Manchester Gallery, VT, Weatherburn Gallery, Naples, and Highlands Art Gallery, Lamberville, among others. She has worn many wards.
