Steven Mitchell Wall Art

Steve Mitchell holds a BFA in set design from USF. He had a summer intensive at the Kennedy Center with Ming Cho Lee, and also holds an MFA from Cal Arts. Mitchell currently resides in St. Petersburg, Florida where he works as a freelance designer. He has also taught Scene Painting and Scenic Design at the University of South Florida as a Temporary Professor and at The College of William and Mary. St. Pete theatre has provided him with a vibrant scene where he has designed “Radio Golf” for American Stage, “In The Heights” and “The Rocky Horror Show.” Together with Eric Davis of FreeFall Theatre, they designed “Cabaret”, “Man of La Mancha” and “Jekyll & Hyde.” With director Bob Devin Jones of Studio 620, they designed “The Odd Couple” and “The Men.” And with director Julia Flood of Eckerd Theatre Company they designed “Twelfth Night.” at Venice Theatre he worked with director Kelly Woodland to produce “Spring Awakening.”

Other clients that Mitchell has designed sets for include Nickelodeon Studios, Universal Creative (Shanghai and Florida parks), and Walt Disney Entertainment. He has also worked in two feature films as art director and illustrator, and for many corporate event companies in New York. He assisted Broadway designers James Noone, Robert Brill and Eduardo Sicangco. Mitchell is always busy because his services are in great demand. His 20-year career spans themed entertainment, theater, television and film. Mitchell’s art is found in many collections all over the world. They are also in galleries, museums, institutions, homes, etc.
