Christopher Burkett Wall Art

Christopher Burkett (Born 1951) was born raised in the Pacific Northwest. At the age of 24, while he was a brother in a Christian order, Burkett became interested in photography. He was using his photographs as a means of expressing the beauty, light and grace he saw present in the world of nature. Over the next two decades that followed, he slowly but surely perfected his skill so photography could be the means through which he could express his inspiration and innermost feelings. Today he works almost exclusively with color transparencies of 8” x 10". In 1979, he decided to leave the brotherhood so as to get enough time to pursue photography. He also married his wife, Ruth. He went ahead to learn the process of offset printing and ran laser scanners and 4-color printing presses to create detailed color separations. Three years of experience in the printing trade helped him to develop his fine judgment of color and gave him a deep perceptive of the principles of tone and color reproduction.

Burkett travels extensively throughout the US to photograph. His numerous exhibitions and masterful printing brought him international acclaim within a very short time. Burkett’s photographs are featured in many private and public fine art collections. By virtue of his use of unique and sophisticated masking techniques, the artist is a recognized national expert in Cibachrome printing. He also has taught several workshops sponsored through the Anderson Ranch Arts Center and the Friends of Photography. He says that the purpose of his photography is to provide a veiled, brief glimpse into brilliant and clear world of power and light.
