Henry Von Genk resides with his family in Atlantic Beach. He was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and has been an accomplished artist for more than 25 years. He loved art from his childhood. After a successful and long career executing murals for clients around the world and for museums, he is focusing on his life long destiny of fine art. Von Genk is a self-taught artist who works in oils. He has mastered a realistic style of landscape painting and uses a unique shadowing and glazing technique to bring depth and richness to his paintings. He portrays Florida, his home state, as it was, and as it should be. Von Genk’s paintings place the viewers there, stimulate the feelings and warm the heart – a feeling that we all get when we actually view these beautiful vistas. His love for salt marshes of the Southeast coastline and Florida’s waterways can be seen in all his paintings.
He has had numerous solo shows and has donated paintings for select charity fundraisers. His paintings depict the beauty of sunlight on the natural beauty of the State, and are generally devoid of any intrusions by man made features. In 2011 he was selected by the St. Johns Riverkeeper for the Featured Artist of the year. He was also invited by a jury to be among the artists for the Southeastern Wildlife Expo 2009 up to 2013. His works are owned by public and private collectors across the country as well as internationally, and include many major corporations and well known celebrities.
