Tim Bradley Wall Art

Tim Bradley is a graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California from where he earned both his BFA and MFA degrees in photography. After graduation he pursued dual interests as a teacher and photographer, joining the Visual Arts faculty at Cal State, Northridge and exhibiting his work in Los Angeles through the Jan Turner gallery. In 1991, he was appointed chair of photography at Art Center, and he served as for nine years then he left to open his freelance studio where he completed projects for Oprah, Fortune, Esquire, The Advocate, and other editorial clients. Bradley is currently a teacher at Brooks Institute in the new MFA program in photography and he also chairs the visual arts department at an independent high school outside of Los Angeles.

An exhibition of his photography from 1978 - 1981 titled “California Dwelling” was presented by Craig Krull Gallery in December of 2012. From 1978 to 1981, he photographed in a neighborhood that had an uncanny visual presence. The layering of postwar apartments, ancient bungalows, contemporary suburban life and outdated cars made the place look like no one knew what decade it was. Night brought out impossible shadows and illuminated doorbells, and sunlight burnished surfaces with a pastel vibrancy, projecting a feeling of theatricality. It seemed as though time was holding its breath to accommodate the incidental arrangements of a suburban tableau. The view from the sidewalk was disarming. Looking at the ground glass Bradley often felt that he was engulfed in a virtual space rather than aiming at a subject, just as if he had stumbled onto a stage set or into someone else’s memory.
