Erin Galvez Wall Art

Erin Galvez love art from a young age. In the first grade, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she already knew that she wanted to be an artist. An introspective and quiet child, Erin was quite content with something to draw with and some paper. Even while leafing through Sunset magazines, she would wonder whether she would ever be able to create art beautiful enough that someone would want to hang it in their home or to purchase for a friend as a gift. In high school, a parent of one of her best friends had a lithograph hanging in their dining room, Erin inspected it closely and immediately she knew what she wanted to study in college. After high school she joined California State University at Sacramento from where she received her Bachelor of Arts.

She then proceeded for a Masters in Fine Arts in printmaking from the same university at Long Beach. She was able to learn a variety of artistic methods, continuing her art education by travel and working whenever possible in creative ventures. Erin still finds it remarkable, as a woman and an artist, that all of the experiences in her life, the small little things that have influenced her continue to find their way into her work. She finds herself especially attracted to Asian art and crafts. She realizes that those open drawers in her grandmother’s jewelry box filled with the Korean embroideries, , as well as cloisonn jewelry, Japanese prints and Chinese antiques in her home have played a necessary part in her perceptions of beauty. Her mixed media work explores an appreciation of beautifying the spaces that people live and work in.
