Yiorgos Depollas Wall Art

Yiorgos Depollas (Born 1947) was born in Athens. He’s a photographer who was one of the luminaries of the movement of the New Greek Photography which during the 1980s and 1990s promoted inventive photography in Greece, and, to date, he remains a highly influential figure. Depollas has been active in both professional and creative photography since 1975, and he has exhibited in Greece and abroad, including France, Britain, Germany, Italy, and the USA. In 1979Depollas together with 5 other photographers founded the Photography Centre of Athens (PCA). The Photography Centre of Athens PCA was the first Greek institution devoted to creative photography. PCA therefore became a seminal focus for photographers of next generations. In 1981 he became the Secretary General of Greek Union of Creative and Commercial Photography. Two years later he co-founded the Editions FOTORAMA. From 1984 to date, Depollas has been teaching photography at VAKALO School of Graphic Arts.

And in the course of his work, he founded fotoview which acts as a repository of travel photography. He has published many books including YIORGOS DEPOLLAS Photographs, ON THE BEACH, 13 STRANGE DEATHS, ASYLUM and INLOOK George DePolla, among others. Depollas’ images are captivating; they make the viewers to a fell of his subjects. He has exhibited in several locations including Photography Centre of Athens, FIVE ATHENIAN PHOTOGRAPHERS, Phototheque, LA JEUNE PHOTOGRAPHIE GREQUE, FNAC Montparnasse, Athens Cultural Centre, Musee de la Photo, Charleroi, Heffers Gallery Cambridge, Ville de Paris, Musee d’Art Moderne, and The Photographers’ Gallery, London, among others.
