American painter David Gray (Born in 1970) acquired a strong foundational in art education while he was studying for his BFA at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Because of his love of art and because he understands that learning is a continuous process, his art education has continued with formal studies in oil painting and pictorial expression which he does occasionally and independently. His art reveals a contemporary and personal expression of order and beauty which can be attributed to the Classical Tradition in its craftsmanship. Whether painting figures or still lifes, the artist brings respect and a deep knowledge of the masters translating into a stylish simplicity on panel or canvas. His paintings have been covered by major art publications including American Art Collector, Art of the West and Southwest Art. Gray focuses on what he knows will attract viewers to his art. His works can be found in many judicious corporate and private art collections throughout the United States and beyond.
He has received many honors, the most recent being an award dubbed the "Chairman's Choice" at the International ARC Salon of the Art Renewal Center (2008/2009), and the "Hunter Edition's Award of Excellence" at the Oil Painters of America National Exhibit (2009). Some of the commercial and juried exhibitions he has participated in include Renaissance of Realism, Denver, Sage Creek Gallery, NM, The Magic of Realism Group Exhibition, Denver, Windows to the Divine Invitational, Denver, 24th Annual Small Works Exhibition, Mandville/Howard Gallery, WA, and Winter Group Show, Santa Fe, (Sage Creek Gallery, NM). Gray also teaches several workshops annually in still life and portraiture painting throughout the US and abroad.
