Diane Knott is an American artist who was born in Olean, New York. Painting has been part of her life since her childhood. She went ahead to study fine art and advertising art in college in New Jersey. Her works are inspired by vintage themes that characterized the surroundings where she lived in New Jersey. She covers a variety of topics inspired mostly by her surroundings in Pennsylvania, her home, her garden and her aging. She founded two art companies that have enabled her to master the market dynamics, fully understanding the retail and wholesale dictates. Diane is now a full time painter whose primary mediums are watercolors and acrylics. Her creative works have been used in the manufacture of licensed products by diverse companies. Her pen and ink paintings have won her awards. Once in a while she adds her pen and ink to her paintings.
Diane started by running her own wholesale business, but in 1999 she changed to licensing in a bid to open up her market. She started getting licensing jobs in 2000. She first worked with a ceramics company before later working with Yankee Candle Company. Diane is currently creating works for Lang Company for green calendars, greeting cards, and more. Diane has also been involved in the business of designing quilting fabric since 2003. Together with her daughter, Holly Knott, they did a book called Quilted Garden Delights that included several illustrations. She enjoys photography as well and mixes it together with needlework whenever she isn't painting.
