Art for Crafters

The words crafter and crafting bring up different connotations to different people. Some hear the word crafting and imagine skills woodworking or stone masonry, however, the common usage of the word typically brings about connotations of sewing, quilting and crocheting.

These skills have been around for ages, dating back to the early B.C. era in history. But when the average person thinks of these types of crafts, they envision people like the hardworking tailor of fine clothes and their mother and grandmother's spending endless hours crafting a comfy sweater for them. It is these connotations that have inspired art for crafters.

Such art for crafters tends favour themes hearkening back the days of past. It seems reasonable enough, after all. When one thinks of sewing, they think of their childhood days. The days when their great-grandmother made them things such as blankets and quilts that have stayed in their family for generations. The sewing art that represents and romanticizes these precious times of past, stand the test of time just as much as the heirlooms themselves.

Sadly, such crafting skills as sewing and quilting are not being picked up by younger persons today. It seems as though there are more entertaining and less productive to ways to spend one's time today. Though some still practice this skill, there are few these days that bring it to the level of an art. But at least there are artists who wish to preserve this waning past time by commemorating it in their works of crafting art.
